Nautical Catholic Military Wedding

I was in heaven when Benson and Jayne came to me for help planning their wedding. Both the bride and groom were in the military (Navy and Air Force) – my favorite groom’s attire is a uniform. They wanted a Catholic wedding at the Immaculata at University of San Diego – I am a USD alumna. And their reception was to be at the Bali Hai – which hosts my favorite San Diego skyline view!

The colors for the nautical themed wedding were blue and white. The bridal bouquet by FloralWorks and Events was simple and elegant with just the right amount of blue.JAYNE-BENSON-020The amazing Brett Butterstein Photography captured the day. This is one of my favorites of the bride leaving the hotel ready meet her groom!   JAYNE-BENSON-103

The Catholic ceremony was held at the Immaculata Parish at the University of San Diego. If you follow my blog, you know it is one of my favorite places on the planet, so I’ve included lots of photos for you.  JAYNE-BENSON-239 JAYNE-BENSON-240 JAYNE-BENSON-285 JAYNE-BENSON-365 JAYNE-BENSON-380After the ceremony, the couple headed to Harbor Island to board a sailboat to grab some alone time as husband and wife, and to make their grand entrance into the waterfront reception.  JAYNE-BENSON-472

Colorful Cambodian Wedding Celebration at Bahia Resort

If you are planning two wedding ceremonies and a reception for one day, you definitely want your couple to be as sweet and easy-going as Marlina and Richard. This gorgeous couple wanted a traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony to honor the bride’s heritage as well as a Christian ceremony. San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-17

The day started with the Cambodian ceremony. The couple looked like royalty in their colorful and detailed silk clothing. In the Cambodian tradition, the groom processed with his family and friends to meet his bride with an offering of platters of fruits and desserts. Once the offering was accepted by the bride and her family, the ceremony continued with a ring exchange, multiple blessings and music. There were multiple outfit changes, each more elaborate and beautiful than the next. San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-22San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-14  San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-18San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-21San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-24 San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-33 San-Diego-Wedding-Photography-50After the Cambodian wedding ceremony, the couple began preparing for their Christian ceremony to take place at the pond and gazebo at the Bahia Resort. Bright Family-Friendly Wedding at Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Kathryn and Rob on a family friendly destination wedding. Living in Chicago, the couple wanted to bring their 5 children to Southern California for an intimate wedding ceremony in front of close family and friends. Their request was to make the event child-friendly and “non-weddingy”. The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel was the perfect venue for a combination family vacation and wedding ceremony. We were blessed with a gorgeous autumn day that showcased the sweeping ocean views. The flowers, by Isari Flower Studio, were colorful and bright and featured elements true to our California themed wedding with sea shells, coral and sea stars. The couple’s children were adorable and served as flower girls and ring bearers. The girls carried candy pomanders made from Dum-Dum lollipops, while the boys wore pinwheel boutonnieres with their own candy centers.

Colorful Garden Wedding at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

It was an honor to witness the love and devotion this couple has for each other as well as their faith. It was a perfect day at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe for a garden wedding. The groom’s father was a pastor and officiated the ceremony. The couple included a prayer together before the ceremony and an act of service of washing each others feet during the ceremony. The ceremony took place under the historic pepper tree followed by dinner on the lawn and dancing in the ballroom.

I do! …and then they rode the Roller Coaster!

Steph and Paul claim they have more fun than anyone. And their April wedding in San Diego proved just that! The day started with a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony at the historic Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala. It was a special location, as the bride’s parents were married in the same church 35 years earlier.

All of the personal flowers, bouquets and boutonnieres, were created by the bride’s talented aunt. Steph selected succulents for their cool colors and textures and as a green alternative to cut flowers. All of the bouquets have since been planted in the yards of family and friends as a remembrance of the special day.

The photos, captured by Heather Elise of Heather Elise Photography were stunning and really captured the joy and love present that day.

Once the ceremony was complete, the entire wedding party took to Mission Beach to ride the iconic Giant Dipper Roller Coaster!

Next, the couple had a special Ceremony of Love on the private beach at the Bahia Hotel. This ceremony celebrated wedding customs from around the world, as Steph and Paul have travelled extensively and lived internationally. Travel-themed decor greeted the 170 guests who had travelled from across the world to celebrate with them.

A custom petal drop was created so the rose petals were released for the couple’s first kiss.

After the beach ceremony, the guests were treated to a party on board the William D. Evans sternwheeler. Each dinner table was named for a country the couple had visited and included framed wedding customs from that country. Bottles of wine or beer from the countries held postcard sized flags to indicate the table name.bahia%20wedding%20photography-35-L[1]

The cake was covered with passport stamps to continue the travel theme. The knife used to cut the cake was a family heirloom and the lace tablecloth on the cake table belonged to the bride’s grandmother.

The guestbook was a quilt lovingly created by the bride’s mother.

The guests danced for hours to the music played by San Diego DJ & Video. Truly a fun day filled with family and friends. Congratulations to Steph and Paul!

Rancho Santa Fe Wedding at The Crosby Club

Meghan and Clint were married at a sunset ceremony at The Crosby Club in Rancho Santa Fe. The bride selected romantic blush colors to compliment the watermelon colored bridesmaid dresses.

The ceremony was decorated with delicate baby’s breath – it was hung in the ivy above the ceremony, featured in vases on either side of the ceremony and in dainty glass jars hung from shepherds hooks lining the aisle.

The cocktail hour was held in the clubhouse courtyard. Willow branches, flowers and candles created a rustic backdrop for the guest book and escort card tables.

The reception was inside the ballroom glowing with candle light and amber uplights. A dirt bike groom’s cake surprised the groom! Tables were dressed with two different centerpieces – one featured lanterns and blush flowers and the other had the same flowers on drift wood branches.

Exquisitely Beautiful Wedding in Del Mar

Seeing this April wedding come together was pure joy. The couple envisioned a sophisticated, romantic and exquisitely beautiful wedding. I think Adorations Botanical Artistry, Concepts Event Design and Thomas Bui worked magic to transform a lovely backyard into a truly stunning wedding venue. The bride walked down the candlelit aisle framed by trees swaying with strands of orchids and crystals and floral chandeliers.walkway at night    ceremony tree detail

A silver and white afternoon reception was held at The Grand Del Mar with a wonderful variety of seating options for the guests – from cocktail tables and belly bars to pearl leather conversation areas.
